Vallone di Campiglia
Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso is located in Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta regions. In the past (since 1856) this territory was a hunting reserve of Savoia dynasty and then since 1933 Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso is under the Italian state administration.
It is characterised by the presence of Gran Paradiso mountain high 4061 meters and by several big and little valleys. Among them in Piemonte region, Valle Soana and its lateral Vallone di Campiglia are worth to be visited.
Vallone di Campiglia is a little valley that branches off from Valprato Soana village located in Valle Soana. The first part of Vallone di Campiglia can be travelled by car, getting Campiglia Soana village where there is a parking. From this point a good path starts and it goes inside the gorgeous valley, closed at its end by very high mountains with an altitude of more than 3000 meters.
The landscape is fantastic and during the spring season when snow starts melting, a lot of water falls are present. Them come down from the steep flanks of the valley diving into Torrente Campiglia. The Vallone di Campiglia bottom is completely covered by forests and pastures and it is a big pleasure hiking through the path that reaches the final part of the valley where huge mountains are present making a natural and breathtaking amphitheatre.
