Located in Toscana region – Arezzo district – close to the border with Umbria region, Sansepolcro is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It is surrounded by a gorgeous nature in the Appennini mountain range.

Its origins date back to 10th century and it developed around the Abbey of Santo Sepolcro (hence the name of the village Sansepolcro). The village experienced its best period during the Renaissance era and Piero della Francesca was born within its walls.

Piero della Francesca has been one of the most famous and important painter during the Renaissance and in Sansepolcro there are some of his main paintings, such as Polittico della Misericordia, la Resurrezione, San Giuliano, San Ludovico di Tolosa.

We would like to suggest you, what is worth visiting in Sansepolcro.

  • Duomo di Sansepolcro also known as Basilica di San Giovanni Evangelista is the most important church in the village. Don’t miss to watch the Polittico della Resurrezione – painter Nicolo di Segna – located above the main altar
  • Chiesa di San Rocco and its Oratorio, with a valuable wooden sculpture of “Jesus Christ removed from the cross”. This sculpture dates back to 13th century
  • Piazza Torre di Berta one of the most beautiful and important squares of the village

However it is also a great pleasure to stroll through the alleys of Sansepolcro enjoying tiny shops, restaurants and a wonderful environment and atmosphere.
