San Calimero - Lombardia

What are you after ? A simple hike in a relaxing environment with a beautiful landscape dominated by fantastic mountains ? If you are after something like that, you cannot miss Piani di Nava, San Calimero and Zucco del Falò (the latter is a top at an altitude of 1592 meters).

The area with these three sites located in Valsassina Lombardia region – is dominated by Grigna Settentrionale, a massif with vertical faces and the top at an altitude of 2410 meters. Not so far from this mountain the Grigna meridionale also known by the nickname Grignetta, is present. It has an altitude of 2184 meters, but it is characterized by several incredible spires used by mountaineers as climbing gym since at least a century.

The path starts from Baiedo, a village located in Valsassina. The car park is at an altitude of 600 meters, and the target – Zucco del Falò – is a top 1592 meters high. So in the end the level to overcome is 992 meters. Not so bad for keeping yourself in a good shape and for some training ! The good news is that the path is very simple, wide, steep in some parts and it goes through forests and meadows.

Piani di Nava are fantastic. Characterized by a relaxing and romantic green landscape and surrounded by mountains among which Il Dente (1704 meters) and Pizzo della Pieve (2257 meters), two peaks belonging to the Grigna massif. The staggering green meadows of Piani di Nava are spotted by very beautiful chalets.

San Calimero is a tiny chapel built on a splendid meadow overlooking Piani di Nava and going up along the path, Zucco del Falò can be reached. From this top a staggering landscape can be observed even on Grigna massif.
