Val Vogna
Rifugio Abate Carestia
The trip to the Abbot Carestia refuge, located in the Risuolo valley in Val Vogna, is one of the most beautiful climbs in the upper Valsesia.
Starting from the hamlet of Ca di Janzo (1354 meters), continue on a simple and mostly flat path enjoying the view of the Vogna stream which, over the centuries, has carved a deep canyon into which it flows. At a crossroads, the path bends to the right climbing steeply up to the Carestia refuge (2201 meters).
Once you arrive at destination you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Val Vogna that ranges from the Sottile hospice (2480 meters), passing from Alpe Larecchio (1895 meters) to Riva Valdobbia. From here you can also admire the sinuosity of the Vogna stream that flows wedged into its canyons.
Continuing on the path and leaving the Carestia refuge behind, you meet from Alpe Rissuolo (2264 meters) to quickly reach Lake Bianco (2332 meters), a poetic alpine lake surrounded by mossy meadows and imposing peaks: an environment that offers serenity and tranquility to those who sit near its shore.
Continuing on the path it is possible to reach the Nero lake and, finally, the Corno Bianco (3320 meters), an imposing peak that dominates the Val Vogna and the Valsesia.
