Pointe de la Pierre - Valle D'Aosta
Pointe de la Pierre is a mountain located in Valle d’Aosta above the Aymavilles village. The path to get the top of this mountain starts from Ozein, a tiny hamlet where the car must be left. From this point to the top (2653 meters) the altitude that must be overcome is of 1290 meters.
The path is not difficult but very long and from the highest point of Pointe de la Pierre it is possible to see a breathtaking landscape with a lot of peaks among which Mont Blanc chain, Becca di Nona (3142 meters), Monte Emilius (3559 meters) and Grivola (3969 meters) with its glaciers.
Walking along the path to the top of Pointe de la Pierre it is possible to admire a special and very rare mountain flower named Stella Alpina, but please don’t pick it up !
The mountain above Aymavilles village is also a good destination for ski mountaineering or long walks with snowshoes, in an environment that during the winter is magic.
