Otranto

If you love sea and sunbath, you must spend your time and holidays at Otranto, one of the most beautiful city of Salento district in Puglia region, located in the “heel of Italian boot”. It is a coastal little town faced to Mare Adriatico exactly in front of Albania country and it is the easternmost point of the Italian peninsula. Furthermore Otranto is rich of history, art, culture and surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches of Italy.

In Otranto it is worth to visit its streets go through the middle of white and blue houses reminiscent of those of Greece, losing yourself in this environment of white walls, stone stairs and small squares.

In the evening don’t miss to look for a good place to see the sunset for example in typical and several bars and restaurants seafront located, where fantastic fish food can be tasted.

In Otranto the sea water is unbelievable, clear, particularly blue and even crystalline. This is why this town and the surrounding beaches are considered a pearl of Salento district. Some of the best that you can visit are for an example Baia Mulino d’Acqua,  Baia dei Turchi and Porto Badisco.

But Otranto is not only seaside, so don’t leave the city without visiting Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata so famous for its floors made of gorgeous mosaics, and also a visit must be done to Castello Aragonese built on XV century.
