Nesso - Lago di Como - Lombardia
Lago di Como is one of the most fascinating Italian lakes and it is well known abroad, but on its shores there are some tiny and hidden hamlets unbelievable for their unique beauty, and of course it is worth visiting them.
One of these is Nesso, not so far from Como city – Lombardia region. First written evidences of this hamlet date back to year 951, and it has also a castle named Castello di San Lorenzo, which cannot be visited, but that has a particular story.
In fact unlike other Medieval castles, Castello di San Lorenzo wasn’t dominated by powerful families, but it was mainly managed by the inhabitants of Nesso with a “consortium” formula. Therefore it was used for defensive actions, but also as a shelter for goods.
The most beautiful part of Nesso, is the one located on the bank of the lake. A very long and steep staircase runs down to reach a beautiful little tunnel which leads to a small bridge. This bridge is located on the lake, where two streams flow into a beautiful waterfall 200 meters high. In this part of the hamlet the landscape is fantastic, and the atmosphere is very romantic ! Something that will make you beside yourself.
