Gastronomic tour in Montepulciano
Tuscany offers so many lovely landscapes, delicious dishes and unequalled wines, that it’s impossible to get wrong!
Montepulciano is a nice medieval village with a stunning view of Val d’Orcia, one of the most magical valley in Italy, full of cypresses and fields. But we have selected this place also for its food, BBOI team has decided to try some of Montepulciano restaurants for a mini gastronomic tour!
Our selected restaurants are the following: Osteria del Borgo and Osteria del Conte. These two places offer traditional dishes and very good wines, we suggest you to book in time because they always have full house!
In Tuscany you can find a lot of different type of fresh pasta like pici, tagliatelle, spaghetti, as you can see in the pictures below. Here it’s usual to use ragù as sauce, they have the common ragù with meat and tomato sauce or the withe one, without tomato sauce but seasoned with a lot of cheese! Another typical tuscan dish is charcuterie, like bacon, salami or ham; and don’t forgot about Pecorino cheese, one of the most famous in Italy. Pecorino and cured meats you can taste in Tuscany are DOP products, which means that they have a specific production disciplinary that makes a certain gastronomic product unique and inimitable.
Montepulciano is also important for its wine, we have tried Nobile of Montepulciano DOCG, a red wine very intense, persistent and with a woody scent, this is one of the most ancient wine in Italy! But this territory is well-known also for Rosso of Montepulciano and Vin Santo of Montepulciano, the first one is a red wine which goes along with a meal based on meat or cheese, the second one is a dessert wine, very sweet and fruity.
Tuscany never disappoints tourists, both for its delicious food and for its unique hills, you can’t absolutely miss this region!
