Merano - Alto Adige
Merano is a small city located in the north – east part of Italy, close to the border with Austria and merged in a fantastic environment surrounded by mountains. Life in this small city is a pleasure considering also that it is located in the Dolomiti area !
Beauty, gastronomy, climate and citizens make Merano a fantastic city where spend holidays. Furthermore in Merano there is a beautiful sightseeing called Tappeiner that can be easily done on foot or by bicycle and some stretches of this sightseeing run along Passirio river which crosses the city.
The first civic order of Merano dates back to year 1317 and from this date the hamlet assumes the structure of a city crossed by important communication routes and it becomes an important politic and administrative center of Tirolo region.
During the first part of XIX century the city assumed a touristic vocation, which increased over the years thanks to the strategic vison of some rich local people of Merano.
Due also to the splendid mountainous environment that surrounds Merano and to some characteristics that make the city well-known for the improvement of human health, the city becomes an important wellness and touristic center.

Kurhaus (spa house) is one of the best known buildings in Merano, used not only as spa, but also for very important and international events.
Torre delle Polveri from to XVI to XVIII century used as powder keg and also as shelter for citizens during times of war. You can walk on the top of this tower, where the landscape of the surrounding of Merano is awesome.
Castello di San Zeno dates back to the Roman period and was then updated in the Middle Ages. During year 1347 it was completely destroyed by Carlo IV di Lussemburgo and it fell into ruin.
