Lago di Carezza / Braies - Karersee / Pragser Wildsee Dolomiti
Two of the most iconic lakes in Dolomiti (north – east of Italy) are Lago di Carezza and Lago di Braies. They are encompassed by an awesome environment with enchanted landscapes.
Lago di Carezza is in Val d’Ega in the district of Bolzano. Its water has fantastic colours (it is also called “Lago dell’arcobaleno” – “Rainbow lake”) and it is surrounded by wide pine forests. Behind these forests the Latemar massif rises making an unbelievable landscape, reflected in the waters of the lake. Something that cannot be described in words only, but also with photos!
From this lake a lot of paths, that climb between the spires of the Latemar massif, start but one of them goes around the shore of the lake, giving you the possibility to enjoy any corner of this awesome place.
Lago di Carezza is fed by waters that come from underground springs. During the thaw period its level rises to 22 meters.
Lago di Braies is located in Val di Braies, a lateral valley of the famous Val Pusteria in the district of Bolzano. It is like a jewel kept in a casket made up of wide and rocky mountains. It is awesome and you cannot miss to visit this natural beauty!
It lies between Croda del Becco (2810 meters of altitude), Sasso del Signore (2447 meters of altitude), Giavo Grande (2475 meters of altitude), and there is a marvellous path that goes around it giving you a spectacular landscape.
On a shore of Lago di Braies there is also a stilt house where little rowing boats can be rented. BBofItaly warmly suggests this experience, because it allows you to see the surrounding environment from a different point of view, enjoying the fabulous and powerful nature. An experience that will leave you speechless for its beauty!
