Ferrata Gamma 1 Lecco - Lombardia region
Gamma 1 is the name of an aided path on Prealpi of Lombardia region. Aided path means a rocky and vertical path tolled with cables or chains and ladders. A unique experience that you could never ever imagine. Something that surely will make you beside yourself !
Gamma 1 climbs on a mountain called Pizzo d’Erna (1375 meters of level), and it starts from Piani d’Erna a site close to Barzio village in Lecco district.
The aided path is characterized by a great “verticality” and because of this it has a big exposure on the void but it is not so difficult from a technical mountaineering point of view.
It has two bridges and one of them is a Tibetan bridge, built with two wire ropes. The lower one where feet move and the upper one must be grasped with hands to keep the body in balance. Crossing this bridge it is a little bit tricky, but the experience is great.
Of course due to the great verticality of this aided path, the landscape on Lago di Lecco and the Lecco little city, is awesome !
Don’t forget to dress the right equipment when you climb on a aided path. It could be very dangerous if you don’t go through this kind of experience without the necessary protections to make yourself safer.
