Catelluccio di Norcia Plateau - Umbria

BBOI’s team is excited to propose this magical hilly landscape in Umbria, in the Castelluccio di Norcia‘s plateau.
You will find yourself in the Monte Sibillini National Park, in the middle of central Appennines.

This plateu was formerly a lake, now dried up, and it is very famous in Italy for its lentils plantations both because of their delicious flavour and their amazing colours during the blooming at the end of spring.
We decided to start our route from Colfiorito and to end it at Amatrice, in order to enjoy all the most scenic roads with our motorbike! The total lenght of our itinerary is more or less 100 km, there are not lots of hairpin turns so it’s a very easy trip suitable for everyone.

What really makes this place so amazing is the nature that surrounds you…trails, mule tracks, heaps of grass and Sibillini mountain chain. The road is very easy and relaxing, you will be enraptured by this almost velvety grassy plateau! BBOI’s team suggests you to try this tour also by van and to spend a night there, you won’t regret it.

Crossing the plateau you will find at the end the small village of Catelluccio di Norcia, where you can eat something typical like lentils clearly, salami, Prosciutto Crudo di Norcia IGP, sausages, cheeses, chicory and so on! Here there are many small restaurants where it is possible to have lunch and drink some good red wine.

After a break at Castelluccio, you can continue until you reach Amatrice, pay attention because unfortunately the last tract is a little bit dismal since in this area was hit by earthquake few years ago. But don’t worry, Amatrice is still a famous place where you can also taste the yummy Amatriciana pasta!

Please do not hesitate to ask us for more info on how to experience this beautiful destination !
