Castello di Compiano - Reggio Emilia

However Castello di Compiano has a particular history, worthy of being mentioned. This castle is located in Val di Taro, Parma district – Emilia Romagna region. First evidence of this building dates back to IX century, when it was under the domain of the powerful Malaspina family and over the following years it was mainly under the domain of Landi, a well-known and powerful family in that part of Emilia Romagna region.
Castello di Compiano was bought on 1966 by Contessa Lina Raimondi Marchesa Gambarotta, and its story changed radically. It became the home of this noble woman, who decided to completely restore the building and change its furnishings.
During her life she visited many cities and parts of the world, developing a specific attitude towards architecture especially for the futurism current. This her experience was applied to the castle, redesigning all its rooms. Upon her death in 1987, she left the castle to the administration of Compiano village.
