Blue Lake - Val D'Ayas

Val d’Ayas is a valley situated in Valle d’Aosta, at the foot of Monte Rosa! BBOI team suggests you to spend your holiday at Champoluc, the most famous village in Val d’Ayas, which offers all the comforts you need.

Blue Lake is an indispensable destination during your stay, the path starts from Saint Jacques at 1689 mt and goes up into the forest until you reach a small ancient village called Fiery. If you follow the road signs you will end up in a plateau, named Pian di Verra, where you are able to see the magnificent Monte Rosa. From there it takes more or less 30 minutes to reach the Blue Lake at 2220 mt, your mouth will be wide open in front of this stunning turquoise lake surrounded by stones!

If you are a good walker you can also continue to come up the moraine in order to see the Verra glacier and the lake behind you. BBOI team suggests you not to miss this beautiful panorama, the path isn’t difficult or long, just a bit steep.

This destination is reachable in any season, but if you go during winter don’t forget your snowshoes, otherwise you can hire them at Champoluc! During summer you can have a pic-nic at the lake or take a bath if you are brave enough!
