Bivacco Chentre - Bionaz and Passo Dazalou - Valle D'Aosta

In a lateral valley closes to the huge dam that is present at the end of Valpelline, there is a beautiful bivouac called Bivacco Chentre – Bionaz (2530 meters high). From this site it is then possible to reach Passo Dazalou (2872 meters high).

The area where the bivouac is located, is really very wild, and you could walk all day long meeting no one ! First part of the path climbs through a forest. Walking in this fantastic environment, you gain level very quickly and then you enter in the lateral valley called Comba d’Avèe characterized by the presence of several streams.

Leaving the forest, the path climbs along a gulley, reaching the first goal: Bivacco Chentre – Bionaz. The position of this bivouac is awesome and also its style is particular and for these reasons it worth a visit. Furthermore inside the bivouac there are some sculptures made by Arjen Bakermans a Dutch artist.

From Bivacco Chentre – Bionaz, the gulley climbs again, reaching Passo Dazalou. This last part of adventure has not a tracked path, so you must walk on a stony terrain, finding the best direction to the pass. The environment is really savage and the last part of the walk is very hard, due to the steepness of the slope.

When you get Passo Dazalou on the other side you can see Mont Arpettaz (3235 meters high) and Punta Chanoux (3250 meters high). The pass overlooks a valley called Comba de Livournea which runs down to the huge lake of the dam in Valpelline.
