Bergeggi - Liguria
Bergeggi Island - Il canalone
The island of Bergeggi, located in front of the municipality of the same name in the western area of Liguria, is a recently introduced Marine Protected Area (year 2007). Since the introduction of the Marine Protected Area, the island has become a refuge for numerous species: in diving you can usually observe nudibranchs, snappers, groupers, damselfish, conger eels, octopuses, morays, and many others!
The gully is one of the most interesting dives on the island of Bergeggi and is located in the Nort-East area of the island. The seabed reaches a maximum depth of about 30 meters, with a vertical wall that goes down to about 8 meters in depth.
Numerous anemones and small crustaceans can be found in the cracks in the walls and the seabed and, going deeper, a great variety of fish can be found.
Diving is easy, usually with good visibility and no current. The presence of plateaus and walls makes it suitable for different depths making it suitable for all types of diving.
